The 8.5 x 11 funeral program is the most often used funeral printed product across the nation. Depending on which area of the country you live in, funeral programs of this size may also be called funeral bulletins, memorial programs or funeral folders. They are usually printed “one-up” on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and folded in half creating four pages and a finished funeral program size of 5.5 x 8.5 inches .
This funeral program size allows for more text information and pictures to be inserted into the program. But remember less can be more… Although our online application allows you to insert as many picture as you want, we generally suggest limiting the number of pictures on the cover to one or two pictures, then inserting the rest of the pictures on the interior pages or back cover. This provides empty space for a clean finished look.

Paper and Printing Suggestions For Funeral Programs
We suggest finding a quality paper that not only feels nice, but also prints well. Paper that “feels smooth” usually has some type of coating applied to it that will “soak up” less ink and look better. Buying paper from a local paper supplier may help you save on shipping and overall cost. You can also purchase paper from us or another funeral paper supplier if desired. (ie. Messenger, FuneralOne, Frazer Consultants, etc.)
The best paper that we have found has a pre-scored (not pre-creased) line down the middle of the page, which prevents folded edges from cracking. This type of paper also virtually folds itself which takes much less time when folding hundreds of programs.
Some people prefer applying a white border all the way around their funeral programs and down the middle. This is easily applied in the Zachary Douglass application and also prevents folded edge cracking.
Borderless Printing: The only way to achieve a borderless finished product is to cut the edges off or use micro perforated paper that is then ripped off to create the borderless finished product. Currently there is no printer available that automatically prints a borderless (full bleed) finished product. Funeral programs can also be created in larger or smaller sizes or in a tri-fold format. More sizes are soon to come. Check back often!

If you do find a background, please just remember the product name so you can easily find it in the application. Cover or Inside, they are interchangeable. Covers tend to be darker than the inside where you may place text but every cover can be lightened using our tools.
