Prayer Cards (8-up) | Funeral Cards | Memorial Cards
Prayer cards are also known as funeral cards or memorial cards. Prayer cards originate from the Catholic faith and are distributed at funerals to those in attendence. They are usually about the size of a trading card measuring 2.5 x 4.25 inches and fit 8 cards to 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper (see below). This is why they are also known as 8-up funeral prayer cards. Traditionally, they depict a religious scene or a saint, but with the advancement of technology, funeral prayer cards usually have a photo of the person being commemorated with a prayer or scripture verse printed on the back.

The Zachary Douglass application allows you to customize both sides of your funeral prayer cards. It also enables you to print on the backside of pre-printed prayer card stock (ie. Messenger, Deaton Kennedy, Bass Mollett, etc.). Many funeral homes have hundreds of dollars worth of prayer card paper in stock. Being able to print custom images and text on the backside provides funeral homes a way to offer a customized solution to the families they serve, but also utilize the stock that they have already bought.
The images below show what eight-up funeral prayers card will look like when it is printed on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. Of course you can create whatever your imagination can think of. Inserting any background or picture that the family has provided is very simple. Basically upload the image and drag-and-drop anywhere on the canvas.

The borders of prayer cards can be set to ANY size or even be borderless. The size of the border largely depends on how close to the edge your printer can print. Most high-end printers will go 1/8 inch to the edge (this is what we recommend). Professional printers in your local area can help you achieve a borderless finished product if you bring them the final PDF document. Blank microperfed paper can also be bought and used for easy separation of the funeral cards.
