  • When I'm Gone

    When I’m gone to the end of my journey and I travel my last weary mile. Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned, and only remember the smile. Forget unkind words I have spoken, remember some good I have done. Forget that I ever had heartache and remember I had lots of fun. Forget that I’ve stumbled and blundered and sometimes fell by the way. Remember I have fought some hard battles and won, eve the close of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day. But in summer just gather some flowers and remember the place where I lay, and come in the shade of evening. When the sun paints the sky in the west, stand for a few moments beside me and remember only the best.

  • When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

    When tomorrow starts without me, And I’m not there to see; If the sun should rise and find your eyes, All filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today; While thinking of the many things, we didn’t get to say.

    I know how much you love me, As much as I love you; and each time that you think of me, I know I’ll miss you too; But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand, And said my place was ready, in heaven far above, And that I’d have to leave behind, All those I dearly love.

    If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while, I’d say goodbye and kiss you, And maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized, That this could never be, For emptiness and memories would take the place of me.

    And when I thought of wordly things I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.

    But when I walked through heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, From his great golden throne, He said, “This is eternity, And all I’ve promised you.” Today for life on earth has passed, But here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last, And since each day’s the same way, There’s no longin for the past.

    But since you have been so faithful, So trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things, You knew you shouldn’t do. But you have been forgiven, And now at last you’re free. So won’t you take my hand, And share my life with me.

    So when tomorrow starts without me, Don’t think we’re far apart, For every time you think of me, I’m right here, in your heart.

    When I must leave you for a little while—–
    please do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years.

    Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God has laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full. I savored much.     I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

    Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!”

    “Gone where?”

    Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port.

    Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side say: “There, she is gone!” There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”

    And that is dying.

  • God's Little Angels

    When God calls little children to dwell with Him above, we mortals sometimes question the wisdom of His love. Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold so He picks a rosebud before it grows old. God knows how much we need them and so He takes but a few to make the land more beautiful to view. The saddest word mankind knows will always be “Goodbye” So when a little child departs, we who are left behind must realize God loves children. Little Angels are hard to find.

  • Going Home

    Many times in my in child hood when we’ve traveled so far
    By nightfall how weary I’d grown
    Father’s arms would slip around me and gently he’d say
    “My child we’re going home”

    Going home, I’m going home
    There is nothing to hold me here
    I’ve caught a glimpse of that Heavenly land
    Praise God, I’m going home

    Now the twilight is fading, the day soon shall end

  • God Saw She

    God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around her and whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away, Although we loved her dearly we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.

    He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
    This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. “LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way.
    But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
    I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.”
    The LORD replied, “My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.
    During your times of trial and suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

    When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage, give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little child before it is too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate.
